Established in 1948 by newspaper publisher Sir Keith Murdoch and a group of like-minded Australians and Americans, the American Australian Association is the largest public not-for-profit organisation devoted to building strategic alliances between the United States and Australia.

The American Australian Association Ltd (AAA Ltd) was incorporated in Sydney, Australia on May 16, 2006 as a limited liability company.  It is a non-profit organisation whose purpose is to promote friendship, cooperation and understanding between the peoples of the United States and Australia through a better understanding of their cultures and societies. It is affiliated with the American Australian Association Inc. (AAA Inc) in New York.  AAA Ltd produces business seminars, social and other cultural events which aid the development and enrichment of the bilateral relationship between Australia and the United States of America.

The United States Studies Centre (USSC)

The United States Studies Centre (USSC) at The University of Sydney, was established as a joint project between the Association and the Federal Government, who provided a AU$25m contribution, together with funding from the NSW Government, the University and the private sector. AAA Ltd. collaborated with the University in setting up the United States Studies Centre, and continues to assist in its function and oversight.  The United States Studies Centre brings together leading scholars, politicians, business leaders and thinkers from across Australia and the USA to research, debate and create new knowledge on American political, economic, social and cultural issues.
