AAA Launches Corporate Program Series - David Hale

On 29 March, the American Australian Association launched an outreach programme to the corporate community with a networking reception featuring renowned Chicago economist, David Hale. Addressing a capacity crowd, Mr. Hale outlined the key Australian, US and global macro and micro events which will impact the economy for the next 5 years.

29 April: MELBOURNE - Roundtable Breakfast with Dr Ziggy Switkowski

AAA, in partnership with Corporate Member Sullivan & Cromwell, invite you to a roundtable discussion over a continental breakfast with the esteemed Dr Ziggy Switkowski.  The event will be hosted by Sullivan & Cromwell at their offices at Level 32, 101 Collins Street from 7:15 to 9:00am on Friday, 29 April.

Dr Ziggy Switkowski is currently Chancellor of RMIT University. He is a non-executive director of listed companies Suncorp, Tabcorp, Oil Search and Lynas. He is Chairman of Opera Australia, and the former chairman of the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation. A former chief executive officer of Telstra, Optus and Kodak (Australia), Dr Switkowski is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, as well as the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

He will be discussing a range of current topics including the nuclear situation after the tsunami in Japan.

14 April: SYDNEY - NLJ Album Launch Party

Piano-Pop Singer/Songwriter Nathan Leigh Jones, who performed at the 2010 AAA holiday party at the Consul General's home, will be launching his album on Thursday, 14 April at Slide - 41 Oxford Street.

Julia Gillard Attends PM Dinner in NYC

AAA NYC hosted a dinner for Prime Minister Julia Gillard marking the occasion of her inaugural visit to the United States as Prime Minister of Australia.

The dinner on 9 March in the ballroom of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, New York provided Ms. Gillard the opportunity to address senior American and Australian business and financial leaders as well as other government and diplomatic guests.

15 April: Fellowship Deadline!


The 2011 Deadline for the Association's Australia to US Fellowship Program will expire this Friday, 15 April. The Association offers Fellowships of up to US$30,000 to Australian researchers wishing to undertake advanced research (graduate or postgraduate) in the U.S. For more info, click here.

2 May: SYDNEY - Coral Sea Cenotaph Service

On 2 May, the American Australian Association will honour those who fought and died in the Battle of the Coral Sea (4-8 May 1942). The Cenotaph Servcie will be held at Martin Place in Sydney.

17 June: MELBOURNE - American Women's Auxiliary American Independence Day Ball


The American Women's Auxiliary to the Royal Children's Hospital celebrates their 80th anniversary with an American Independence Day Ball in Melbourne on June 17. The black tie affair features dinner, dancing and live and silent auctions.
