Calling all Peace Corps Volunteers

The US Consulate would like to hear from anyone in the area who has served as a Peace Corps volunteer.  March 1, 2011 marks the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy signing Executive Order 10924 which established the Peace Corps in 1961. The Consulate of the United States looks to mark this 50th anniversary and would like to hear from anyone in the area who served as a volunteer with this distinguished organisation.

US College Night: Outlining the US University Admissions Process

1 March:  Interested in finding out more about attending University in the US?   College Consulting International will be hosting a “US College Night”, supported by the US Studies Centre. The evening event is open to the public and will take place on Tuesday, March 1st at 7:00pm in the Sydney CBD. Designed for students who are interested in applying to universities in the US, parents are encouraged to accompany their students to the presentation. Families who would like to attend should RSVP to promptly as space is limited.

New Orleans Rebirth Brass Band Tour

Event Development Network has been fortunate to secure the New Orleans Rebirth Brass Band Tour to tour Australia and New Zealand in March 2011.

Direct from New Orleans, Rebirth Brass Band is touring concert halls and theatres around Australia and New Zealand in March 2011. The tour will be held at the State Theatre on the 21st March 2011. Rebirth Brass Band is featured on the soundtrack to HBO's hit series Treme, which was recently nominated for a 2011 Grammy Award. Further details can be found at or

Battle of Java Sea Memorial Service

Cenotaph, Martin Place, Sydney NSW


25 February: The Battle of the Java Sea was a major naval battle during the Pacific campaign of World War II in which the Australian, American, British,and Dutch troops fought together in defense of the region.  Join us at the Memorial Service on Friday, 25 February, 11:00am at the Cenotaph, Martin Place, Sydney.  With the support of the Royal Australian Navy Band and personnel, wreaths will be laid to honour those who fought and perished for our freedom.  More
